Hammbert is Playing with Fire
You know that Pay Roll Issue that you have heard about? You really should not think that it is a small thing. We all work for pay not the joy. Even Hammbert works for pay not the joy. You will recall that Brother Dreier reported that 75% of his paychecks had errors in his checks since about the beginning of the year. There was one check that had two errors. Let's analyze this and what it might mean and why an audit is necessary.
- Our top hourly rate of pay (without longevity) is $18.45 per hour
- There are normally 5 work days in a work week.
- Lets say that over your time in the week your pay check is shorted only
1/4th hour per week or 15 minutes per week (five or so minutes per day) - Number of pay periods not paid
The calculation is then something like this:
(hourly pay / 60 minutes) x days x minutes not paid (5 minutes in our example) x 20 pay periods
(18.45/60) x 10 days x 5 minutes x 20 pay
periods =
Our result is = $307.50 and if it is over time then
multiply by 1.5 and you get $461.25!
And the year is not even over yet.
Hammbert Playing with Fire
This is not a minor issue! It adds up over time. It is the same amount that LTD wants to take away from the union for prep time. They think it is very important. You know what we should keep it very important too. In fact, maybe these potential shortages are intentional because they oppose the prep time gain we got in the last contract. I have given my information to the union and you need to do it too. Always check your check - that's why it is called that you know.
